It annoyed me when Windows 7 was released as basically "Vista SP2". I feel that this is the wrong direction for M$. I wanted something different, so i set out on the path that became VooDooXP. The VooDooXP desktop is very intuitive, easy to customize, and very clean. But if it dosn't suit your needs, switching back to XP's desktop is easy as well. The other main goal was remove all keygens and cracks, due to so many false positives. I rebuilt many of the installers myself to make this happen. There were a few thing I tried to do, like porting Vista's WDM, that just ended up not being feasible.
